🌱 Care Instructions
Watering: Water when the top 3–4 cm of soil are dry (typically weekly in bright rooms). Bonsai pots are shallow and dry faster—water thoroughly until it drains, then let excess run off. Reduce frequency in cooler months. Avoid waterlogging.
Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. A few hours of gentle morning sun are fine; avoid harsh midday sun that can scorch leaves.
Humidity: Average to higher. Light misting helps in dry rooms, especially in heated seasons.
Soil: A well-draining bonsai mix (e.g., akadama/pumice/lava, or indoor mix with extra perlite/pumice). Drainage holes are essential.
Fertilizing: Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring/summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer at ½ strength. Reduce or pause in fall/winter.
Pruning: Pinch back soft new growth to maintain form and leaf size. Remove crossing shoots. Structural pruning is best in late spring; always make clean cuts.
Support: Generally self-supporting. Optional light wiring/clips can refine branch angles—avoid tight wraps and monitor regularly.
⚠️ Warning
Toxicity: Ficus sap (latex) can irritate skin and is mildly toxic if ingested. Keep away from pets/children; wash hands after pruning.
Temperature: Ideal 18–27 °C; avoid cold drafts and temperatures below 12 °C.
Pests: Monitor for scale, mealybugs, and spider mites—especially on stems and undersides. Wipe leaves and treat early if needed.
Leaf care: Dust leaves monthly for shine and photosynthesis. Rotate the pot ¼ turn weekly for even growth.
