🌱 Care Instructions
Watering: Let the top 5–7 cm of soil dry, then water thoroughly and drain fully. Avoid waterlogging; olive roots prefer air as much as moisture. Water less in winter or lower light.
Light: Very bright, indirect to direct light. Aim for several hours of sun daily. Insufficient light leads to leaf drop and sparse growth.
Humidity: Average home humidity is fine with good airflow. Avoid overly damp, stagnant corners.
Soil: Fast-draining, gritty mix (quality indoor potting soil blended with perlite/pumice and a little coarse sand). Always use a pot with a drainage hole.
Fertilizing: Feed monthly in spring–summer with a balanced or olive/citrus fertilizer (follow label). Reduce in fall/winter.
Pruning: Light structural trims after a growth flush to maintain an open, airy canopy. Remove crossing shoots; tip-prune to encourage branching.
Support: Young trunks may benefit from a discreet stake and soft ties until fully woody, especially after repotting.
⚠️ Warning
Toxicity: Generally considered non-toxic, but ingesting leaves/twigs may upset stomachs—keep out of reach of pets and children.
Temperature: Prefers a cool-bright environment: 10–24 °C. Avoid frosts, hot radiators, and cold drafts.
Pests: Check routinely for scale and spider mites, especially in dry indoor air. Wipe leaves, rinse gently, and treat early if needed.
Leaf care: Dust leaves monthly with a soft cloth. Leaf drop often signals low light or overwatering—increase light, improve drainage, and keep routines consistent.
